History & Tradition
The Smokin’ Oyster was originally an old Florida home that was renovated and established in 1997. Today, it’s a Fort Myers Beach icon that we all love and enjoy. Since the first oysters on the half shell where served, many have enjoyed S.O.B.’s Island atmosphere and nightly live music.
When you arrive at the Smokin’ Oyster Brewery you’ll probably notice a small boat behind the bar. Originally, it was meant for escaping a hurricane with some delicious crabs, island bread, or burgers prepared fresh daily. Today, it displays the many bottled beers, wine and liquor we use to make our fabulous tropical drinks (which will all need to be saved, along with our famous seafood bucket, when the hurricane winds come a blowin’
– we may need a bigger boat!)
It’s easy to appreciate all the memorabilia from many visitors from all over the world that covers the walls at Smokin’ Oyster Brewery. But, what’s even better is hearing all the laughter, and seeing the many smiling faces of our local friends we see on a regular basis, our winter northerners and meeting those who have come for their first visit.
